Here I am after a couple weeks: I've got peppers, onions, tomatoes, radishes, and mixed greens (already used the babies for a couple wraps) growing so far. I'm planning on doing everything indoors this year so there will be spindly plants. On the plus side, they are growing. Going to add an eggplant, carrots, and herbs down the road here within the next month or two.

No, haven't got around to it. Still using my little grow lights from a couple of years back - Target clearance desk lamps with grow bulbs. I've been distracted by a few things and need to pay more attention to my plants.

Purchased a Bonnie's German Thyme plant last year from a big box. I put the plant in a bucket and let it go all winter. I thought the plant died since temps below zero were not uncommon. This spring the plant looked dried out and terrible. To my surprise, I was getting ready to get rid of the plant today and there are tiny branches coming back to life. The little guy will get a replanting sometime this week. Thought I would mention this to others who may consider planting this herb. The GT seems to be pretty dang hardy here in zone 5.

On the left are store bought green onions I planted a couple days ago. I can't believe how fast they have grown. The tops were cut down to the bulb. The idea came from the articles on reusing kitchen scraps.

I am testing out smaller tomato plants indoors. One variety is a Lizzano. I have been pretty lazy about this. Basically, I stuck a plant in a bucket in front of a south facing window. The plant got to about 3 feet tall so I had to trim it back a little. It is getting bigger than expected so I am not sure if this plant will last.

How big is the effect of direct sunshine on; growth, and them turning red? Hrs/day, etc

The plants should be getting more light. I should have a grow lamp set up but as I said, I have been lazy. I'm more concerned with other things this summer. From what I understand, temps play a major part in tomatoes turning red. Since these are indoors, then I shouldn't have a problem with that. I've had other tomatoes turn red indoors before. I'm more worried about the plant getting too big and aphids.
I purposely picked varieties that were either semi-determinate or dwarfs that would be under 2ft in height. The other 4 smaller plants aren't growing as fast. Again, mostly because of my laziness. In addition, there are 3 small pepper plants and 1 eggplant growing inside. And it is the same with those plants, I am trying to find small varieties to grow indoors.

"It is not necessary to attribute economy of labor to laziness; it is simply the manifestation of a realistic grasp of one's temporal limitations."
Can't remember who said that, but I think it applies in your case, Daryl
