Going small & stress free this year. The plants are in the bottom left corner of the old garden site. Still have more hugel pots to do. Behind on that.
t
The cucumbers disappeared the first night. Replaced them with a pepper plant that is doing outstanding.
Peppers and tomatoes...

Ohhhh my! You don't know if blackberries are edible! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlackberryThey might be my favourites. Well berries in general. Blackcurant too! Cherries!

Ok, then. I went and picked about a cup full of berries after work. I might make a cheesecake later on and use the blackberries as a topping.
A little quick research here online indicated the bush to be a wild trailing variety. The plant is located in a thicket along the tree line. I will start clearing out the brush surrounding the plant as soon as I can. Wow. This is a fun discovery.

Hey Wolf, Thought you were growing women! My family owns a few acres in the Catskills- took my wife there in May so she could see some of where I spent time growing up, having been born and raised on Long Island, now living in the Blue Ridge mtns of southwest Virginia. Your town is Way up there. Nice garden! Any interesting RH builds lately? Fellow Yank Eric VW

Haven't built any new RMH lately, still have to make the one in my main house look "pretty" this winter.
The beds are filled with old "baby head" boulders for about 1.5 feet, and the other 1.5 feet is topsoil. On the other side of the bed is just a ground level garden for corn and potatoes.
The next set of beds I build this way I will try to make them huggels. I have a lot of downed trees rotting in the woods.
The beds are great for lazy weeders like me, nothing like standing and weeding. Real easy on the knees!

This is my Lizzano. It broke from a storm but keeps on producing. I wanted to share this because the plant only gets about 2 feet high and wide but acts like an indeterminate. Tiny little marble tomatoes that rate up their with Sweet 100 taste wise.

I finally have a red pepper. It's only October, right? My cilantro bounced back after a Sept die off.

Here's one picking of tomatoes off of our Hugelkulture beds.. Pretty much ALL of these are volunteers from the humanure that got spread into the topsoil mix!
