It is the "dry seam" that turns the counterflow oven into a kind of bell. That is an interesting interpretation! Looking at the schematics that is not what my eyes are seeing. What was your level of training with Kuznetsov? Did you actually lay hands on brick? I get the impression you have read much and built little.

I don't build at all! I advise others. I showed Peter what unit 0.6 MW was built according to my words. If you do not have time to build a lot of reading. You need a good memory, volumetric thinking and a simulator in the brain.

To the attention of "josephcrawley": Hello, I am also interested in ovens "Kuznetsov". The explanations of the pro-kuznetsov videos are enticing, but nothing concrete in terms of measurements and test results. I also come to understand that a manufacturer wants to advertise himself by venting the merits of his production without giving the keys to his know-how, may he have to make a living from it.... However, it would be wise for him to support his claims with scientifically proven data. I too remain on my hunger. For fun, I want to make one, but as I am not a professional, the idea of reinventing hot water or butter cutting thread, inspires me only moderately. Good luck in your search. ps: We must flee individuals who have swollen ankles...

Désolé pour ce deuxième message converti avec le traducteur de Window. Je voulais savoir si la transcription était fiable... c'est pas convainquant!!! Par moment il peut y avoir des contre sens.

And to make this thread go full circle here's a permies link to a thread about Kuznetsov with our own Peterberg. There are references back to older threads on this site. During the early development of Peter's first batchbox design he apparently tried the dry seam idea and had less than positive results. permies.com/t/156820/Experience-Kuznetsov-StovesIt is shame the search here at proboards is so poor otherwise I probably would have found this. Also here's a link to the 2008 MHA meeting where Alex Chernov and Kuznetsov build one of his designs. www.mha-net.org/docs/v8n2/wildac08f.htm

I took the time to search to confirm my words. From the link www.stenovne.dk/englishpage%20course.html you can find out that when the Russians turned off the gas, they sent a landing of stove workers as an excuse or a mockery, but rather aggressive marketing. www.stovemaster.com/html_en/articles_7.html These stoves are more like a "penis extension" than a heating device. The common people are heated with simpler stoves.

archive.org/details/TheFlowOfGasesInFurnaces/mode/2upHere's a link to the book about bell theory translated to English. Dry as toast but interesting stuff. Having looked at many different Russian stove designs the bell concept is executed quite differently than I have seen here. I think largely due to the desire to close everything with brick. Much of the bell concept is executed in two vertical tunnels. The bypass in these stoves is often a nice vertical connection between the firebox and the stove pipe. I think the reason most of these designs have two bells is the internal surface area is much smaller and the gases retain more heat as a result. The overall result is a much more compact stove with a greater mass per volume. youtube.com/c/AlekseyStopchikThis fellow is a stove builder in Ukraine who has a lot of SketchUp plans that he walks through layer by layer. Rather informative even without understanding the language.

I like the ICBM hidden within the stove! Мне нравится межконтинентальная баллистическая ракета, спрятанная в печке!

youtu.be/TOcvaJVHRT0Here's a step by step build of a typical masonry heater with cooktop. I think some of the construction details will be helpful to folks that visit this site. Lots of details about how to properly bed doors and clean outs and also where to allow for expansion. I particularly like the look of the chamfered corners on the brick.
