How much longer will you be allowed to keep burning wood? Have you been banned yet in your area? Your C02 sins have not gone unnoticed. They are coming for your "freedom" heat....
What are you going to do?

My old house chimney is really my drier vent. My SS triple wall is my stove vent and no one really cares around here. Outdoor wood boilers everywhere...

I can get a side exit easily with 2" PVC but the large steam plume is pretty obvious. I'll have to come up with a steam/water vapor muffler at some point. I have been watching the back ground chatter and basically any thing self reliant is being targeted. Watch to Canada and Europe to see the future for where they will try to criminalize things in America and other places. They have been killing off back yard chickens like crazy in Europe as an example.

"I have been watching the back ground chatter and basically any thing self reliant is being targeted. Watch to Canada and Europe to see the future for where they will try to criminalize things in America and other places" In this part of Europe , rural Spain , there are lots of folks still heating with wood and no sign that the gov. are looking to clamp down.As for the backyard chickens , lots of em here , as well as pigs goats sheep , donkeys etc.More importantly a culture of disliking authority & not snitching on your neigbours.

in France, we heat with wood too and there is no problem with the fumes... (it is not in the projects of the authorities to regulate that either). the chickens are also doing very well! gadget, what are your sources?

The reason I like rocket technology is because of the incredible efficiency and decreased particulate pollution. Places with a lot of inefficient, smoking wood stoves are horrible. I’d vote for electrostatic precipitators if chimneys are belching smoke. Why should the neighbor kid with asthma have to suffer so I can burn wet wood in a bad stove? These posts sound suspiciously like other situations where cries of freedom for some cause death and suffering in others. I don’t know anything about killing chickens.

as with the most things are not black-white.
It's good to control and regulate if it lowers polution because general population is careless.
On the other hand we know that nwo cabal wants to use any excuse to bring total control over population and tax them to poverty (in Europe "citizens" are already giving ~50% of their income to goven-mind).

It is always surprising for me to see that people who are a priori rational (they try to make their heating system efficient) can fall into conspiracy. I hesitated to answer because it touches on politics and it could lead far (in excess). UK is no longer Europe (brexit). Europeans are not taxed at 50 percent. All this is just clichés that do not reflect the situation. I easily side with hallinen although I am a deep anarchist. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Some interesting replies......
We have had bans where I live. Some have been fought by the locals and won. Other areas can NO LONGER BURN WOOD. Doesn't matter how bad ass clean your heater is. They don't care to customize the laws just for you. You just get a nice big fat fine first offense and it escalates from there. They use thermal images and don't care if there is smoke or not. A clean burning rocket mass heater will produce MORE CO2 then a smoky metal box.
They are going after CO2 for a reason. If your educated beyond the current school system you would know why.

I believe the issue with home wood combustion is primarily particulates, particles less than 10 microns. You’ve probably heard of PM 2.5, those particles make it deep into the lungs and cause heart and lung pathology. Stoves that emit lots of CO contribute to the atmospheric CO2 because CO gets oxidized, via OH and HO2 radicals, into CO2. If your local regulatory bodies are confused about combustion chemistry, and want to ban wood stoves on account of CO2 production, they need to be enlightened. Wood is considered carbon neutral. If they want to ban stoves for PM 2.5 output, they have a point. I know this forum isn’t the place, but I’d love to see open source, safe home use electrostatic precipitators or flue gas filtration devices be a thing.

I agree 100% but if you have been paying attention, the whole global warming agenda was never about science. At 400ppm, how could CO2 ever be a problem? If it drops down in to the 200's, all life on earth would end. They don't care about facts, they just don't want you being self sufficient. There is allot of up tic on the CO2 output of wood stoves being evil......they don't care if its "in the carbon cycle" or "carbon neutral" anymore. Facts don't matter, just agenda. don't shoot the messenger......
