Anybody intrested in woodgas generators to feed petrol engines?
I'd like to find myself a big V8 which i would feed with a woodgas generator, to make an electric generator. I already have a 62kw brush motor for the generating part. If i can make my gen set, i would power a sawmill. So i could feed the offcuts to the gas gen.
Anybody has done one? Seen one done. Think the idea is daft? Or good?
Thanks for any comment.

I am interested in charcoal gasification, as it takes less equipment and is cleaner. I would want to power a vehicle, and a generator. This is why the Tlud stoves appeal to me.

Hi Max, I have ran a lawn mower to cut my lawn for 3yrs that ran on wood. I also have a Ranger that I converted over 2 yrs ago. I have also attended 3 woodgas gatherings in the last 4 yrs. It's a fine hobby. A lot of people loose ambition after a few setbacks, but yes it very well can be done. It takes a bit of work to run properly and maintain. My gasifiers are styled after the imbert.
ronyon, Yes charcoal is a lot simpler. The downside is you waste energy making the char and they make less power.
A wonderful aspect of the wood gasifiers is that they are carbon negative!
