Hopefully to help me and others, info in one place so to speak.
Can someone specify the suggested temperature rating for bricks in a batch load bell heater:-
Bricks in the firebox =
Bricks in the riser =
Bricks in the first bell (i.e., above the top of the riser) =
I understand common or garden bricks/block/concrete/cob etc. can be used elsewhere.
Thanks

Hi PeterG I have used common fire brick all the way around the core,i guess thise are rated for 1250C here in Czech rep.I know i could special order fire bricks rated for 1450C but thats the more expensive option. But i would say ,the bricks for fire box, the 1250C is enough, for the riser the 1450C would improved the riser significantly. For the bell above the riser the 1250C is sufficient.Thats my opinion.R

In my roughshod copy of a Peterberg Batch Box I was able to melt one of the red firebricks inside the throat of the stove. It didn't destroy the brick, just made one of the corners "drip."
