Hey gang, I was sitting on the outdoor system last night, smoking some ribs and enjoying the fire. I realized I've been looking at this thing all summer, just loving it, and I haven't shared it here. It's just fascinating to me. You can clearly watch the effect the secondary air has on the burn, as well as look back into the riser and see the vortex there. This is early in the burn, maybe half and hour or so after lighting. It gets much more intense once the whole thing is super hot, especially back in the riser, but this is pretty fun to watch. I've got the primary air shut down, too much really, and you can see where I open the door a crack about halfway through this clip. I then shut it again and the pyrolized gasses really put on a show for the next little while.
Anyway, just thought I'd share what I've been looking at all summer...

What a trip.. You got a GREAT view there! It's pretty clear what the P-channel is doing. Interesting to watch, I didn't really notice the sheet of burning air till after you opened the door and closed it again. Had to watch it a couple of times through. It can clearly be seen "growing" out of the P-channel after the door is shut. NEAT!

Thanks a lot you all. I thought some of you might really like to actually see what's happening back there. I've sure been enjoying sitting around looking at it in the evenings.

You have really nice screen saver :-). Side windows must radiate alot! Thanks Klemen. That window throws out so much heat you can't sit very close at all or it's too hot. I'm sure it comes at the expense of efficiency, but it's really nice nonetheless.
