I love it Sandy! Beautiful work, I can envision a lot of very cool applications for that little guy.

Which means it re-radiates a large portion of the heat it receives. This is why a barrel on a rocket heater can work so well, the enormous heat it is subjected to, is immediately release to the surrounding area, rather than accumulated. We will be testing chimney height, but I don't think it will require much. It is a very short exit path to the chimney.

Sandy, do you ever see producing these oven castings for sale? I need to build an outdoor kitchen, probably spring 2014, and this casting looks like it'd be perfect.

Yes we do sell them. The plain oven is $400. We are working on a door.
We sat it on top of the heat riser cap of the Castle Build at the Mother Earth News Fair where we built a 6" castle build. Although we were using caps made from insulating refractory, (to save on shipping), we were amazed at how well it worked. I can't wait to do some more test with it on top of a barrel, etc.
(The fair was located over 1000 miles from us, so we flew in, picked some chimney flues and other supplies and built the unit on 1st day of the 3 day event.)

One of the projects we are currently working on is an outdoor kitchen shown here. We have just finished the oven casting. View AttachmentView Attachment Wow! Very nice castings! I don't know a lot about cooking with an oven of this kind. How is the temperature controlled?

The Dragon heaters look inviting. Does anyone know of a UK supply of clay flues bigger than 300mm?

Thanks for the link. The largest they do is 16" and I'd like to get 20". I was thinking about building the 4" Dragon, and see if they would sell just the channel castings to save a packet on shipping.

Thanks again. It's a pity the UK is full of bankers and not burners.

Mmm..........., I am interested in the guy who makes 70 x 70, if he can do that he can probably do smaller.
I suggested to a gardening fiend that some customers may be interested in a luxury garden heater like the Dragon. If it's possible to get flue sections closer than the US, it might be economical. I'd like one ::-)

Great design. I too thinking of permanently designing an outdoor kitchen and your idea will definitely prove handy. Consulted lot of decorators and visited many online sites but your idea seems amazing. oceansrg also provided some worth noting ideas.
