Hi everybody.
Well, daft question. I've searched, but didn't find an answer. Can a bell be made of normal bricks? I know if the rocket is in it, the top at least should be refractory.
Thanks a lot.
Max.

Yes, could be done with normal bricks. And concrete blocks, cob, granite or whatever. The top part, in general everything above the mouth of the riser do need something fireproof. A liner of fire bricks, split fire bricks (the thin variant), superwool, steel, etcetera. Or simply an oil barrel.

How about a 4 cm slab of normal beton for the top ou the bell? Would it resist the trawler?

I'm not sure what beton or trawler mean in your question

Beton is another word for concrete, trawler in this sense I don't know. But... don't use normal concrete for the top of a bell, that cap can easily reach 500 ºC, at which temperature the silicium christals in there goes from one shape to another. Together with a large expansion of the material, so it will surely crack spectacularly.

I'm about halfway done building my bell with small red clay bricks. It is taking a long time and I am wishing I had gone with a larger brick or block shape to speed things up.
