The last few days, i've had probs accessing, and lost a few messages. Might be due to a window update tho.

The last week or so I've had problems with most sites being slow to load, dropping downloads, etc. This is one of the few that's been relatively good. I believe it may have something to do with crossing the pond because Europe based sites have been the worse lately from here. Anyone else?

I am at the same side of the pond as Satamax. No problems at all with the forum. Maybe it's a provider isssue?

Peter, i'm with orange, which is not the fastest, that's for sure! But they're better for consistency than free for example. Mind you, i'm pretty sure your lines are better than the ones we have over here. At the end of a mountain valley!
Never mind. For the moment it works!

How old?? Mint is damn fine and runs well on my laptop, but it WILL be too heavy for older ones. I'm running a dual core intel 2.2 ghz with 4 gigs ram.. If you've got a REALLY old laptop, I'd go with Lubuntu for a fully featured system that is still light enough for old systems or Puppy Linux for an ULTRA light OS that will fit on a small thumb-drive with room to spare for programs and data.. Puppy is nice to have around for system restoration purposes, or a system in a pocket that will work on pretty much ANY machine. I've used it to rescue data from my wife's horribly screwed windows machine.. Gawd, I LOVE Linux!!
