Thanks a lot for your reply Donkey. Well, doing steel roofing often, i have plenty of flat steel offcuts. I will make a box to hold the rockwool. (like a hat box) Only problem, the time it takes. I'm busy right now. And i have another project on the go! What ever became of this Max? So, needing quick heat in the new workshop, i reread Peter's batch box domensions, and seen where this one realy realy lacked! In heat riser's lengh. So i added 50cm chimney flue, insulated with rockwool, on top of the original heat riser. Huray! Smokeless in less than five minutes, with no P channel. And way suboptimal wood. That rockwool takes too much room. I have a chep stainless steel bin, which is about 30cm diameter. Thoses flue elements are 22cm outside dimensions, 26cm rounded corner to rounded corner. So that would be 3/4 perlite on the corners, and 1.6 on the flats at most. Good enough for the top of the heat riser. The rest is just in 200l of vermiculite! So no prob. Anybody has a word to say? Any advice?

I say totally good enough for the top of the heat riser. Cool, thanks a lot Matt! Now comes the question of the mass. I have a burned barrel to go atop of this one, over the heat riser stub. But what kind of bell size do i need behind! I have that old fuel tank, www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4506697562941&l=6180392434But that's only 4.25m² isa. I need at least seven! Where's my next tank!
