Barrel temperatures?

Hi everybody.

Daft question, how hot does the barrel in a rmh gets? I'm more intrested about bottom of barrel temp than top one It's just to be able to find a suitable joint.

Mine doesn't ever get that hot at the bottom Max. I have the thermometer at the top, so I don't know exactly, but I'd guess 200F is probably around where it runs most often. The thermometer, which is on the side of the barrel about an inch or so from the top, rarely goes much beyond 500F and 400F is typical. The bottom of the barrel is much, much cooler.

500F at the top of the barrel is more typical for me (6.3x7.1 inch system size) with the maximum recorded 575F.
The bottom of the barrel (the barrel is barely covered on the bottom) is typically around 310F. I think it would be a challenge to get it to 400F. But with a batch load its possible: donkey32.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=experiment&thread=511&page=4#4841
