I don't have any videos.. I DO have images of the whole process, pretty much step by step. I've been combing the mess into a slide show of sorts in my free time. 'Course, I don't have a whole lot of free time, so it's gonna take a while yet before you see much of them here. To the cob thing.. It's probably good that you could NOT hear the recipe in the video.. More likely than not, it would just throw you off. Every soil has it's own ideal mix ratio and EVERY shovel full of the stuff is a little different. Here, the mix is one to one, unless it's for thermal mass in a stove then I go MUCH sandier.. I'm game to hear your idea, ESPECIALLY if you are willing to try it on a test bed at home and post your results. Either way, start a thread in the experiments area and see what comes of it.

Hey there, Leslie Jackson here. I am getting a lot of region-specific requests from stove builders and want-to-be stove builders asking for workshops and experienced stovers in their areas.
I would like to propose a "where y'at?" thread that helps people find each other geographically (or perhaps that exists, and I haven't dug deep enough...if so, where is that?)
Thanks for all you do on the forum, Donkey, and thanks to those of you who participate. It makes this tech move forward! Best, Leslie

Donkey, This may have already been suggested, but if so, I haven't seen it yet. Perhaps add a board (or sub-board) to post "latest stable designs" threads. I'm thinking of a post with a brief description of the design, drawings, videos, anything to give a person not familiar with the particular build a good idea of what it is all about. Post a link to the main thread and maybe lock it so all questions/variations can go to the main thread. When a design goes to the next level, the "latest stable design" can be updated. An example of what I mean is the pellet burner thread. The final version is buried deep in the thread. Someone might not realize this (even tho it's pointed out) and try to copy the first version. Kind'a like the open software stuff. Make any sense? Joel

Totally makes sense. It's a bit like what dvawolk has in mind on this thread here, though what he has in mind is quite a bit more in depth. I kind of had something in mind like your idea in the Finishing and Finished area.. For detailing finished stoves, specific dimensions, and talking about finishes/plasters and all that too.. Hasn't really happened that way, but...

I agree, use the sticky threads where possible: a forum wide FAQ might be possible...there's another board that won't/can't put up stickies in the technical areas and the same questions are asked again and again and...
This is a great "technical" forum, thanks to all the "mods" and members for sharing.
[I just shared some technical info to members (gurus) I know or recognize via PM...didn"t post it to the forums openly as there have been some recent "shenanigans": I may post some thoughts about the Creative Commons license soon, otherwise I'd suggest all "techies" on this board to search for it...might be something to apply personally as we share our labors.
Thanks again to all

Donkey, guess this isn't a suggestion but a small complaint. Every time I try to login my password is rejected, finaly after 3 tries I got in this time without saying I'd forgotten my password and gone that route which I've done before. Any suggestions? Sorry if this isn't the place for this..... Thanks in advance, Don

I've been having some login issues too. It won't always remember my computer and I've got to log in fresh over again.. I know that proboards has been upgrading the system, moving to new version of software and such.. Hopefully, this is just a temporary glitch moment and it'll all smooth out soon. Let me know if it keeps being an issue and I'll take it to the gurus upstairs..

On most forums there's a 'New posts' buttons which just lists all the unread posts since your last login, I cant find one on here and I keep finding things I've missed. Is it possible to set that up here? Thanks.

Is it possible to set that up here? In fact, there is one such feature. Top of the page: New Topics. This button will list all the updated topics or the new posts, whatever you choose to call it.

Thank you Peter, How does it indicate the threads with new posts since my last login? It shows the date and time of posts but not which have been made since my last login? Some post made yesterday I read but I dont know which of those I read and which were made yesterday after I'd logged out of the forum.

Every topic with carries a later date since your last login is marked by a small icon that says "New". The last one posted is on top. When one topic received more than one post in the mean time, there's no indicator for that.

Thanks for your patients Peter, but that cant be right - when I look at the new thread page today there are 6 'New' marked threads with last post times going back to the 1st March - I was logged in here yesterday evening.

Vortex, When you open all the threads which are marked "New", they won't appear again as such. Unless there are new posts added to them, of course. When there are still threads marked new, you haven't read those, yet.

Right, and if you want, you can mark all posts as read, that way you don't actually have to read through EVERY single post. Since I HAVE read every post, I've never used that feature and forgotten where exactly that button is..

Go to Home donkey32.proboards.com/index.cgiIn bottom right hand corner of the main table there is "mark as read".
