hey guys and girls
wondering if this has been posted about before. if so point me to the correct post. I am trying to understand the secondary airport on the dsr3.
Some photos of the dsr2 I see show a batch box configuration. with a steel profile and a pipe. I'm unsure about the height of the pipe, can someone advise? Is this the same measurments as a Batch box?
and some are built into the frame of the door.
On the latest sketchup it's a grill at the bottom of the firebox
To those who know, what is the best setup.

First question is an easy one, the DSR3 doesn't sport a (separate) secondary air provision. Forget about the p-channel, floor channel and whatnot, there isn't any. Up to this date, the DSR3 is the only one where all the air is coming in through the door frame. Mind you, this is very specific so stick to the dimensions and so on regarding duct size and openings.
The grill at the bottom of the firebox is there to shorten the glow phase, nothing else. No air is fed under the grid specifically, tried it of course. In the larger (200 mm) versions The Loam Freemanship are building no grid is incorporated as it isn't necessary.
I am working on a new development of a much simpler to build version which might be interesting for you. Short and wide riser (works), maximum burn rate (not fully achieved yet) and air input like the DSR3 through the door frame (works). Not there yet, results so far are promising. I'll publish when it looks like it'll end up in a viable design.

ok.
so the p-channel was present on early versions of the Dsr but I presume it was more effective with the door.
Are the dimensions you are stating on the sketch up model. or are the written about somewhere.
thanks Peter.

Are the dimensions you are stating on the sketch up model. or are the written about somewhere. The drawing is true to scale, there is a dimension tool and a tape ruler. The picture of the tape ruler looks very much like one. Point and click to one point and next another and it'll show the distance. But... the online version of the model viewer doesn't sport a ruler.
