Just wanted to share some pictures of my newly built sauna. J-tube with p-channel, tripwire and 5 minute riser, it's fed from outside, and takes about an hour to get to 60°c/140°f according to my sauna thermometer, but feels hotter. Got the barrel glowing cherry red last night where the stones don't cover it completely.
The structure is made of river cane, with some upright posts and steel mesh in there too. Covered with cob inside and out, walls are maybe 4-5" thick. Treated with linseed oil to waterproof.
I've got a lot of information and inspiration from this forum over some years of lurking, happy to answer questions or post construction pictures if anyone is interested

Is the stove at floor level? The sauna is built on a terraced slope, the stove is fed from the lower level, and the riser/barrel covers the 1.4m height difference between the base of the stove and the floor of the sauna. That way the foot bench is above the top of the stove, and bathers experience a more even temperature between head and feet.
