Built another scrounged stove pipe stove to test how well I can run it on auger fed planer shavings and wood chips, maybe even sawdust.
The idea is to have a T where wood can be fed in from the top, or hog fuel(as they call it) can be auger fed from the front. I may have to put in a screen though for catching embers to make sure they are burnt before they fly through the stove. Maybe some kind of ash catch as well.
I've been trying to make a multi fuel stove for a long time but was running into issues on design. Controlling the auger will be the tricky part with different fuels. Maybe even add an oil drip later if I like.
In the next day or two hopefully I'll hook the auger up and give it a test. Also thinking of extending the feed tube up a few feet with chicken wire so it will hold chunks/sticks but not cause back draft fighting the riser.

Hey Pyrocasto. I'm along the same lines. I have my cyclonic rocket in my workshop, and was thinking with my help keeping feeding shavings/chips/sawdust to the stove that something could be cobbled up. Have you ever seen a windmill feed? Something along that knock feed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6AVZ5RnEOY&feature=related

I had seen that, but it has been years and I had forgotten about it. Something like that could be used to bump the feed tube on my rocket since I plan on having 4-5 feet of "chicken wire tube" to hold plenty of wood and stuff may get hung up.
I chose auger feed so I could regulate it with temperature easily and have it compact, and hopper feed with a few yards of storage. I've been working 12-14 hours a day so I havent had time to try for a successful auger feed yet. Gotta refab a few things to make it feed better before I can actually test the burn well.
Worst case senerio if it doesnt work ideally I'll build another unit that I know will work for hog fuel, but it will burn only hog fuel and no dust, sticks or cordwood. I'd rather not have 2 stoves in the shop if I can help it, but we'll see. I could always buy a chipper to make all chips but I still couldnt burn dust.
