I sent this question to a acquaintance professor who deals with fluid dynamics. He is damn busy but sometimes replies to questions of aficionados. I tried to program the flow of the stream in your setup but there are too many variables and time dependent parameters needed to do it properly. Thanks Rafał, Would be really interesting to hear what he has to say. I've posted an update on the Vortex thread: donkey32.proboards.com/post/35515/thread

For a dedicated cookstove I would go for a DSR1 or Vortex stove with the same post afterburner configuration as the DSR1 cook stove in Allerton Abbey: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ1uZnDDu3A Hi Vortex, why would you recommend DSR1 over DSR2 for a dedicated cookstove?

Hi nixsee, Ideally for a dedicated cookstove you need the flame of the fire on the underneath of the steel or ceramic cooktop you want to cook on, the DSR2 flame doesn't reach there. I recommend you read through this thread if you haven't already: donkey32.proboards.com/thread/3643/dsr2-cooking-range

Thank you vortex, that makes sense. In general, do all these stoves require a chimney that goes beyond the stove in order to function or can you implement the standalone (accepting some lowered performance, etc...)/

Yes, the rising column of hot flue-gas in the chimney is essential for creating draw in these designs. It's possible to run some of them with just a short chimney if it's just the core running without any mass. Some people have managed to make J-tubes without a vertical chimney, but then you run into startup problems and there's always the danger of carbon monoxide.

Thanks for the plan Vortex. That comes in very handy and doesnt look that complicated at all! I made a new sketchup file adding your comments about the exit port and stumbler. It can be found here: gofile.io/d/gB9n4NEDIT: This link leads to the file in Sketchup 18 gofile.io/d/FeduGKIt says the files do not exist anymore - is there any chance to have these re-uploaded?
