Hi all, haven't been around in awhile... Earlier had a bit of fun developing a small portable sheet-metal J-rocket, and later a small portable sheet-metal batchbox, both of which I've been producing over several years in small quantities now in the Himalayas (NOT the HRS!). Earlier thread, for reference: donkey32.proboards.com/thread/1001/successful-portable-low-mass-rocket...and in terms of combustion design - but not physical - would be largely pertinent to an upcoming winter project: Heading here refers to an ornate little (very little, being 18"high and 16" wide) antique "Columbian Stove Works" cast-iron unit that I had spied at a customer's house last year... When she came back for another of my handmade rocket stoves to supplement the two she has already, I offered a second-hand one in exchange for her little piece of history... I think it was Satamax who several years ago who had converted an old cookstove... but wondering if anyone could refer me to a thread/ threads where a parlor-shaped heating stove had been done up. Wish I could post pics here more easily. Firebox is a wide-open empty chamber that seems well suited to some kind of J... And two sliding doors near the top that I could mount fireglass in. Just wondering if anyone else had any experience. Thanks, Eric

Bump. Did you do this, any updates?
I was thinking of a double-shoebox design that could fit more easily inside a wood stove. If it's 18" high then the riser could only be 16" or so, right?
I wish the thing could magically be an effective batch box, with the old wood stove serving as a bell, and then add some length to the chimney (assunming that's near the top) to make it open out nearer the bottom of the "bell". . .maybe using clay? This is all non-experienced speculation on my part.
