I am hoping to build a rocket bell heater on top on an existing masonry heater I have in my home to help out with heating the second floor. I have a total footprint of 6 feet wide by 32" deep with a 6 inch flue available to the left side....I am thinking about something like the following... I know that others have said that having the syphon opening on the bottom is not a good idea because it will fill with ash but I have included a cleanout to take care of that problem....Any comments appreciated...

I would imagine it would depend a lot on the design of masonry heater below it. If the masonary heater already is running fairly efficiently you might not be able to pull more heat out of the chimney with out negatively effecting the draw of the stove.
