Hi all, I've got one roll of 25 mm superwool - 610 mm wide by 7.2 m long, roughly 180 high density fire brick splits 25 - 32 mm thick, a few dozen scavenged storage heater bricks, a large tub of quality fire cement, 3 bags (100litre) of perlite from fine to coarse and 2 new 50 gal drums with lids and clips. I won't bore you with the details but I'm never gonna build my beast and I don't want my partner to have sort all my crap out when I'm gone. I will not split this lot up it's all or nothing - if you feel like making a donation to the Royal British Legion then be my guest but it's not mandatory. We're currently living off grid in our wood and reception is poor so text me if you're interested and I'll get back to you 07855 072016.
King regards, Mark
p.s. if this is in the wrong place on here please feel free to relocate it where it will get seen by UK based members - many thanks.
I hadn't appreciated how hard it is to give stuff away nowadays ................ anyway, was saving this for the person who claimed the goodies - didn't want to add it to the list from the get go to discourage those just after free shiny toys. I've also got an Evolution Rage3 10" sliding mitre saw capable of bevel cuts to 45 degrees on a nice shiny stand with diamond blade too - it's had 15 mins use chopping up a 4" fence post and is sat in the garage gathering dust. Once again it's FOC but you have to take all the other stuff too.
TexasGonzo: Sooooo glad I found this site! Its always rewarding to find such a super group of folks! To any and all, feel free to PM me anytime. Thanks for having me!

deadstarsstillburn: Hi there. I was directed this way by folks on the Permies.com website and am hoping I can get some information on how a total newbie can get started designing, siting, building, and not-dying-in-a-horrible-house-fire with a new RMH in a 160-year old home

deadstarsstillburn: The people over there recommended either a 6" batchbox or an 8" J-tube. I don't know what those are but am going to try to figure that out. What I need is a blueprint that I can scale to fit the need for my house. I have something likne 5000 square feet

deadstarsstillburn: but I do not need to heat all of it by any means. probably only need to heat half of that, maybe less.
Oct 21, 2020 6:53:15 GMT -8
deadstarsstillburn: moreover, the house has 3 storeys (large attic) so I assume if I get very efficient heating on the ground floor, that will go a long way toward heating the upstairs as well, no?
