Hey,I was turned on to an interesting design of a forced/induced draft water rocket called the Jetstream. Do a google to find as I haven't figured the link business out yet. It looks to me like it could be improved/tinkered to work natural heat riser draft in some way. Any way, thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

Yeah, water rockets are pretty darn cool! I'm not familiar with the one in particular that you mentioned, though the home made plastic bottle ones are easy to make.. Fun and dangerous too. Could you elaborate on your thinking somewhat? .. My brother has told me before that rocket stoves somewhat resemble ram jets.. I've thought of trying some of the nozzle/volume tricks from jet technologies.. Haven't had the time lately.

If you google Jetstream wood boiler you come up with a few sites one of which is slozuki's and he has a history of the Jetstream page. It was a design of some pyro professor(s) from Maine in the late 70's and actually through funding got to a production level and the company spun off. See if you can't find the sectional drawing of the design and you'll see the similarities. It has a downdraft gravity wood feed tube ,a horizontal refractory burn tunnel and then the hot gasses pass vertically through a tube shell heat exhanger. The design encompasses a tank for hot water heat storage instead of a bench. Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting design.

Ha!.. Funny, I had no idea what you were talking about! I went off looking for water rockets, you know, the water and compressed air toys?? I just love stuff like that.
Anyway, from the descriptions the Jetstream seems VERY similar to a rocket stove. The major difference being the Jetstream uses a blower and the Rocket stove is naturally aspirated. I have been, so far, unable to find the site you mentioned. Could you provide the URL?

Canyou, that link does not load. I too would like to read more on it but a google search really did not give up much except a written description. Does sound like a rocket with fans though!

Sorry ya'll that link worked before but not now. I guess that's how it goes on this internet ocean. It's too bad because there was a good drawing of the thing. Maybe a better surfer can post a better link?
