(Orignal post edited for photosharing... scroll down for google doc links, photobucket is garbage) This is my iteration of the ongoing collaboration of cabin stove designs between the innovators Max Edleson, Lasse Holmes, Kiko Denzer and Matt Walker (My apologies if I missed anyone). I was inspired by rocket powered cabin stoves built at Wild Acres MHA retreat the last two years. This is my version, built with Firespeaking's bypass damper and cooktop, and Pisla cookstove door/ clean outs. Thought I would share.

Really sharp looking. Also like the earlier adobe(?) Versions. Did you ever build the pizza oven in that configuration?

Photobucket is a scam now. After you've posted so many pictures they all stop working unless you pay them $400 a year.

Clicking on the link will take you to his photo album - the pictures just don't appear here in his post.

Correction - the link took me to his album the first time. this time I get ads. I concur, Photobucket is a scam. Or at least it's not a good platform for sharing photos.

Really sharp looking. Also like the earlier adobe(?) Versions. Did you ever build the pizza oven in that configuration? Yes, i built it during a workshop in Oakland last May and the hosts have been slowly finishing it with straw clay insulation and a roof. They’ve cooked a few times out of it with positive feedback about baking quality. I don’t know many specifics, but i know the chimney burns clean after 30 seconds. They said 25 minutes to 400 degrees and after 2 hours of baking and firing it reached 550 f... so pretty stable conventional bake temps but they barely insulated the dome (just one or two inches of light straw clay). I left an optional bypass addition to run leftover heat into an attached bench in the future which there is plenty of left. I’d like to do this design again but lower the hearth for more convenient food loading and a wrap around heated bench. These photos are where i stopped the work on it and they started drive.google.com/open?id=1lmN5PldElr-shMQHvXN3KoTw2ApzwoAMdrive.google.com/open?id=1DDp7I6ESMaWW8twnSwYFRURV2p5DAmsbdrive.google.com/open?id=1CLcNppUT7xUdoBBAvp2xIxGQH0bW08R0drive.google.com/open?id=13lRet89851ElkN8uJBtWdXX3swns_f_m

Really nice looking stove, and impressive numbers from a 'J' style stove/oven.

hey tallgrass, easiest way to share is create an album on photos.google.com/ or postimages.org/ and share the link. cookstove looks great! How fast does it heat up the room compared to classic barrel?

How fast does it heat up the room compared to classic barrel? Thanks! I’ll use it next time. It takes a half load of kindling and a full load of cordwood (i’m burning cured red elm) before the interior starts to heat from the metal cooktop. 3 days of 2 loads every twelve hours from a cold start to get the bricks toasty warm. I tried a cross wash secondary air because of its ease, but consequently secondary air comes in cold and harms my combustion efficieny compared to previous bbr’s where i used p-channels. Next time I build one I will incorporate a floor channel.

that's suprising it takes so much for the space to heat up since the metal surface is quite large and there is no bench. Do you know the tempetarure of the metal plate and the exit pipe temperature?
