I got tired of running out of propane (there is always fuel left in the tank that you cant get out), So I switched over to "ROCKET FUEL"!! I pulled out the propane tank and put in a 5 inch system. The cooker has a lot of mass to heat up, but it's working ok.

Neat.. You got a pulled-back shot of that so we can see how it fits in to the greater gizmo??

I was hoping those pics would do it. It's pretty tight in there. How about some old and new parts? I took out the grease tray and some baffles, then made an adapter plate to fit where the old baffle was (foreground). I think I still will make a collar to fit between the grill and the plate.

I should also mention I made a removeable ash bin so I dont have to take the rocket out to clean it out.

What a great idea! Does the grill really get hot enough? Are you able to cook throughout the entire grill, or is it confined to the area right above the entrance of the rocket heater?

I have a diffuser plate above the rocket to even out the heat throughout the grill. With a moderate fire going (about 1/3 full capacity feed) It gets to about 250-300F. I have more testing to do, but I've stoked it up to 450F. I believe I can go higher but the hotter the grill, the more fuel I go through.
This grill is a bit large (it's for parties). To be more efficent, I would build/use a smaller grill.
