Is there any point in insulating a tlud, burn chamber or using a rocket style riser in place of a chimney?

Depends on personal preference. (Or maybe I don't understand the question.)

Tluds don't normally use insulated risers, and the rest of the tlud isn't usually insulated either. I am asking if adding insulation improves the quality of charcoal, reduces emissions, speeds or slows the time a load takes, etc.

For what you mentioned in the other thread. Pizza oven. Then you need an insulated "riser" just to limit the loss of heat in the wrong areas. I Insulate the outer casing so there is more heat to the secondary air.
For charcoal production you would need the heat to dissipate much quicker so that you don't burn the charcoal.
