Hi Folks,
does anybody of you know how vaccum-formed ceramic fibre tubes are made ? I happen to have a vacuum pump and could do some experiments if it´s doable with home equipment.
I suspect it's not done by using some sort of liquid ridgidizer, for that you won´t need a vacuum, right ?
Best wishes Ralf

Hi ralf these are made with a liquid rigidiser but also with a vacuum pump the liquid mixture of alumina silica water and ceramic fibres are mixed in a tank then drawn though a mould with mesh at the bottom catching the ceramic fibres and filling the mould cavity, gas fire logs are made this same way , search for gas fire log how its made this video on youtube shows the process just skip to the middle
