Harbison-Walker Refractories has a location in the Cincinnati area, and they will sell to individual. Now I need to know what to ask for. They will not give me a price list, but will answer specific inquiries. I believe the favored design for ease of build and efficiency is firebrick burn chambers with a riser of preformed ceramic fiber or insulating bricks. I would like to post a link to the products and ask everyone what products they would use for what builds. thinkhwi.com/products/

I've been trying to locate a thread that i ran accross a short while back regarding someone that used refractory to try making a 3" batch box...haven't been able to locate it thus far though. I THOUGHT that he mentioned what kind of refractory cement he used...but I'm not sure. I'll keep searching and share the link if i'm able to find it.

Here's a link to the thread that i had mentioned (i remembered that i printed the thread out figuring that i wouldn't remember to find it...go figure...i didn't remember). I think that you participated in this thread as well... donkey32.proboards.com/thread/2010/tried-small-batchbox-long-burn...and the subsequent thread which gives more details... He mentions kastolite 22 in the thread below...based on specs of that product, maybe the company can suggest what the equivilant product that they sell is... www.permsteading.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=467
