I haven't seen a 'U' shaped fibre-glass. Most metal stoves have a 'u' shaped metal channel, in which there is round fibreglass rope seal, which is opposed by a ridge of metal that pushes into the fiber-glass rope to form the seal when the door is closed.
You can buy a roll of flat fibre-glass seal that is sticky on one side, it's actually designed for putting around the edges of the stove glass, but it also can be stuck around the edges of fire doors to make a fairly good gas tight seal.
