Hi all, First post, more to come! I am just starting, but hopefully will gather enough info to be able to answer some questions later on too Was wondering where to put this, sounds experimental to me, so... Two questions: 1: I am in the process of designing a batch RMH with S portal and trying to keep the engine part as light as possible (largely build with ceramic fibre board) with a bell bench for evenly weight distribution. Would this work? the Ceramic fibre board is insulating, so the gasses will not be cooled much before they have to go down to the bench. 2: The idea popped in my head to make a window/door in the front above the heatriser, so you can see the flames coming out of there. Seems cool! (and i may also be able to put an oven in or just a pizza stone ) But now i wonder, could the glass take the heat? my guess its hotter above the heatriser then it is in the batch itself? My guess is the glass could help with coooling the gasses though, so that could be a plus. Any ideas?

Here is my standard warning about ceramic fibre board. The stuff I used wasn't very sturdy. I can see why it is used as lining material behind bricks. You may have better luck than I did. Try a little bit to test with. I'm just throwing this info out there to save time and money.

hi michel. I'm rather new myself but regarding 2 I can say that it has been done and looks cool. Satamax has his monster build with viewing glass described in this thread donkey32.proboards.com/thread/1817/starting-build-220mm-rocket-double So he would be a goto guy regarding this question A cool burning window is also to be found in the walker stove. Side of the batch. google it.

The heat riser top glass, if verticla as a door gets sooty quick!
Then cleans itself up, then gets sooty, then again gets itself clean etc.
