Does anyone have a source for Ceramic fiber tube in the USA or that will ship to USA? This just seems like a super clean and nice way to do the riser. This comes from this thread: www.permies.com/t/35569/rocket-stoves/Range-retrofit#344806I'm almost 100% sure I saw a thread from PeterBerg that has the same style of riser and fire box assembly but maybe his riser was all one piece. I can't seem to track that down though. Anyways, I'm looking for a source for the ceramic fiber duct. I have seen it called tube and also sleeves. If you have a source for me I would really appreciate it.

When you type "riser sleeves" in Google or another search engine you'll get a plethora of suppliers and manufacturers in the US. Don't know which one is able to deliver single items, though.

Wow I tried so many iterations of "Ceramic fiber" but I never tried the simpler "riser sleeve". Thank you very much for the help.

Peter, Could you look at this drawing please? I'm wondering if you have ever made the port taper like this. I'd be afraid that the tapered tip would get hit with wood and chip off. That's probably reason enough not to do it, but I was curious if you had ever tried.

No, I didn't. Somebody else did, and their batch box wasn't running well. They also rounded other corners and placed the p-channel closer to the riser side. All those things do have some effect, most of the time not the desired one. My aim was to tune a system which was very simple to build with the least bells and whistles. And that is what it is, simple and straightforward. I am slowly testing and working on a simpler secundary air inlet, getting closer but not there yet.

Hi Chris, One of the US manufacturers I spoke with here in PA said their ceramic riser sleeves are actually designed to burn away after molten metal is poured into it and recommended against using their product. So just a heads up, there seems to be some differences of terminology here among manufacturers of various products. I posted a related thread here: donkey32.proboards.com/thread/1948/affordable-commercial-vacuum-formed-ceramic
