Question about firebricks, what are some of the insulative specs? For example, I have found some of these thin bricks from Freecycle. For some reason the photo is upside down. Anyway, they are about 2" thick and 9" long.

Huh. Thin brick will be less insulative than thick ones.. They will place less thermal mass in the heat riser though, so when you insulate around them, it should (in aggregate) provide more insulation. I don't know how they will stand up to heat shock or how long they will last. Try it and see.

Thanks, Donkey. Sorry if my questions are simplistic. I am green....
Anyway, got a load of bricks from my neighbor, thick ones. They are very wet, however. Who knows how long they've been in the PNW rain.. I have some clearance issues I'll post about shortly and am just curious about how some of these bricks are rated.
BTW, is there a way to attach more than one photo to a post?

The best way I know for images is to place them on a server and use the img tags to link to them instead of attaching.
