My stove works perfectly except on windy days, then it will intermittently reverse draft. I notice that the reverse draft will occur when there is a gust of wind outside. The flue runs 8' vertically and then 12' horizontally before exiting out a north facing wall. Once outside, it runs about another foot before a 90 degree and capped with a spark arrestor, mainly to keep birds and critters out of the pipe. It's an 8 inch system and pretty conventional rocket except most of the barrel is surrounded with 100 year old solid brick instead of cob. The top of the barrel is exposed for some quick heat.
I thought I saw on here somewhere where someone else had experienced back draft problems on windy days, but I can't seem to find the thread. Any suggestions on solutions? Thanks

The easy way would be to buy storm cap for the chimney. There are a couple types. I favor the ones with fins that rotate around and always face out of the wind.
There are also a couple of things that you can make yourself. One of them (I think) is talked about in the book.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I have the book too, duh, I thought I'd seen a solution to this somewhere, it was probably there. There's no wind today, so we are enjoying the fire.
