I passed this on to Leslie (and Ianto?), but I'm really interested in forum thoughts...
I'm building a cob house (digging, digging), about 150sq ft in NC. my design incorporates a green roof and attached half-hoop green house right off the house. Basically you walk out of one of the two doors INTO the greenhouse. I'm also in the process of collecting materials for the rocket stove (the latest design has the stove on the opposite side of the living space in pretty much exactly the j-shaped design in the book, 30ft of 8" pipe at least). And here's to my question!
If I run 30+ feet of flue through a bench, can I pass the flue through the bench, up a wall and INTO the green house? It's not airtight (the green house), but should still stay much warmer than a free standing green house when we hit freezing in the NC winter since it's attached to the cob. And when I saw "warm c02 output" of a clean burning, well absorbed rocket... I thought: "plant food!". Can I put the flue exit in a mostly covered hoop house if the end flue temp is low enough? That air doesn't really come into the house - it's sorta half-outside space, separated by a door.
Thoughts!? :-) You all might get these questions ALL The time, but I thought I'd ask!
