I am at the point in my pyro career where I am ready to purchase a tester. I would like to be able to check ambient room CO levels and find leaks and even check combustion CO if possible. After a little bit of research it looks like I might shell out 300 clams for a Fluke model CO-220. There are a few cheaper ones out there some just under $200 but I'm leaning towards what I sense to be the higher quality/ more long term servicable unit. Does anyone have a CO meter and would share their experience on brand/model and opinion? I wish I could afford a three gas analyzer for O2, CO and NOx but it appears out of my range at over $1000 for the low end handhelds! Thanks!

I'm the proud owner of a Testo 327-1. Otherwise I couldn't perform all those test runs etcetera. I do think it is a great piece of equipment, for serious collecting of data and reliable measurements I've been led to believe Testo is the only option. There's one thing about the 327, the data logging is not automated. Not a serious drawback when you've to test a stove now and then. It's always possible to note down the numbers by hand every, say, 2 minutes. In the past 20 months or so I've ran 120 tests, 80 of that I've recorded by hand, typed into a spreadsheet and generated the graphic. By now, I do think it's time to sell the 327 and buy a 330. That one is very pricey, but it can generate the spreadsheet itself.
Secondhand could be half the price when new for the Testo 327-1. Is that something that appeals to you? The O2 cell is new, the thing is recently calibrated.

I am definitely interested. Was it the O2 cell that "gave up the ghost" recently? How old is the unit itself? How about the CO cell? Thanks!

The O2 cell has been replaced in October. The unit itself has been purchased in March 2008. The CO cell has been calibrated two times and is functioning correctly, according to Testo.
