I received a case of 'tap out plugs' from an aluminum foundry auction in a big lot of other refractory. They are Aluminosilicate cone that are about the size of your hand. The case had 500 when ordered and it looks like there are a dozen or so missing but I'm not counting them . I don't want to make any money on them just if someone wants to pick up the shipping as it weighs 30 lbs for the whole case. I would imagine you could shred/cut them up and mix it in with cob or some casting mix. If your interested in less than the case let me know. Zipcode for shipping rates is 49417. Hope this can help someone because otherwise they are headed to the landfill in a few weeks.

I'd love to talk these off your hands. You're not getting down to Jackson or Okemos any time, are you?

If you have not got a huge ball mill for wet milling you can not break them down safely. I wouldn't risk my health and invest a huge lot of work for small savings, by trying it in another way. But you are all adults.

You're saying, crushing them by hand will make dangerous dust? And the risk wouldn't be worth the benefit?

I think the man said just that! mscantrell, did u read the label on the side of the box in the pic? Pretty NARSTY stuff! I won't even suggest one of those 2 cartridge respirators and a Cuisinart.... Oh wait, I just did! Seriously- I would not do this on my own. The fibers alone would likely get into yer skin many times worse than old pink fiberglass! Just sayin... EVW
ps- if u get the cones ms, put up a pic!

There's a Tim Horton; how about we meet there and I'll buy you a cup of coffee to say thanks?

Thanks again! Mighty nice to meet you. I hope I can do something with these worth bragging about. I'll post pictures either way, success or no.
