I am thinking a six inch j,but I am hoping smaller will do,as riser height is of concern.

For an inner diameter of up to 20" ~ 500mm 4" should be enough.

even with six inch it would be ok wouldn't it? The Heat riser is only a problem for cooktops. Pizza ovens etc want to be more like eye height I would think.

My next oven is going to be an 8 inch stove and a 3 foot diameter baking floor.. Height is not really a problem, a good working height places the baking floor up at chest height, which should be MORE than enough heat riser height. If you're not going back down into a bench (or something) You can cheat the heat riser shorter than "regulation" without difficulty.

Four feet is good for 3 pizzas at once i'd say. I had a 120cm i could fit up to 5 pizzas and the fire in. That's another job, in another life long time ago. Round oven that is.

Nice finds there Doc. I like the last one, and the cart idea is cool too.

Hi everyone, i would like to ask some guidence on how to install a rocket burner on my wood fired oven, it's a 90 cm with 10 cm thick walls and ceramic blanket insulation. I have storage room under the hearth that i am willing to sucrifice for installing the rocket burner. I have saw some youtube footage from china with a woman that bakes on such an oven. She uses two rocket burners, one on the left and one on the right that she light up together. The chimney exit is on the back of the dome and half way. I have the chimney on the arch of the door, will it be ok to install the rocket burner, the hole on the floor, on the back of the dome or on the one side?I will close the door of the oven with a half openning door the will keep the most of the heat in the dome before it goeas out from the chimney. The core will it be ok to castit with perlite and clay slip? I am thinking a stove pipe 15 cm firebox with a 15 riser that is insulated with perlite(lose or with clay slip).
Thank you in advanced and sorry for my English.

I think it could work very well just the way you describe it. You will want to make the riser as tall as possible, so if you have the option of excavating below ground for the core that would be ideal. If not, I imagine it will work well for your goals even if it's not completely smokeless due to a short riser. I would put the entrance into the oven off to one side, or the back, such that you could still fit something in there to cook while firing.

I never used the storing space from underneith, i think that i have about of 1,20 height from the ground to the surface of the firebrick of the floor. Is it ok to use the same size of riser and combustion core? Here is some photos from when i was building the oven, you can see the size and all.

Yes, riser, feed, and burn tunnel all 15cm diameter will be perfect. And 1.2m height should be fine as well.

Not overkill, either would work well. Personally I'd go with a J, just because it's well suited to tending fuel while cooking.

I saw this video with twin rockets in the oven, i wish i had more info for it but i didnt find anything.
