Hi all, Here's a link to a couple of pictures of the rocket stove I built to heat two rooms in our house last winter (about 500 sq.ft). We live in Japan and our rooms have tatami mats so I needed to build a system which was light, easily removable during the warmer months and of course safe, so up off the mats. The system is 4" throughout, with a detachable firebox insulated with perlite. The drum containing the heat riser is 100l volume. All internal piping is stainless steel stove pipe from the local home centre. The 4" heat riser is sleeved with 6" pipe and the gap filled with vermiculite, capped with a steel gasket. The actual fire chamber is a T-section of stovepipe. Inevitably it is subject to high thermal stress and after one season of use it shows some distortion on the base. I'll replace it each season which is easily done and costs only a few dollars. The rest of the flues and heat riser show no signs of wear and tear or heat distortion. s1283.photobucket.com/user/levar/library/
