So.. Leslie Jackson and myself are contemplating having a little gathering here (on my property) in late October specifically for Rocket Stove enthusiasts, experimenters and pros. This is a feeler, to test the waters and see how much interest there is out there. The place is 49 acres of wooded land in Northern California with AMPLE camp-sites, a handful of cob buildings, about 8 working Rocket Stoves of differing configuration and a bit of an ocean view (from various spots). Our Apple trees should be in full swing, so there should be no lack in cobbler (cooked in a rocket-powered oven). There would probably be a small fee to help cover the costs of food, or perhaps a "bring potluck food items" policy.. Not sure about that yet..

I should vote "too far away" (it certainly is!), but at the same time I want to know more. What is the proposed duration of such a gathering?

I've been thinking that it would be around 3 days.. A weekend.. I could be talked into a longer one.
Peter, aren't you going to the innovators gathering at Ernie and Erica's ?? It would be a shame for you to come to the states and NOT visit with me.

Hi Donkey, Yes, I'm going to the innovators gathering. Due to time constraints at home I have to fly there on the 19th of September and I have an appointment at home on the 30th, preferably without a jet lag. So there isn't any time to visit your place. When I had unlimited funds and time I could visit you, Dragon Heaters in Houston, Ianto Evans in Portland, Norbert Senf, Kiko Denzer, Max and Eva Edleson, Alex Chernov, Boris Kukolj, Leslie Jackson and half a dozen other people, all scattered over North America.
This is a big step for me, I have never been out of Europe. The last time in a plane was about 10 years ago, the fartest ever has been Portugal, a 3 hour flight.
So I'll take this one step at the time. When this trip do come out nice, I can think it over to do another. Oh, I am planning to go to the annual gathering of the Masonry Heater Association in North Carolina in spring. Over that one I have been brooding a couple of years.

Unlimited funds... HA!! Good luck with that..
I wish that I could go to the innovators gathering.. Unfortunately, I have a workshop planned for that time-slot and can not make it. Good luck in your travels! Go well.

Aww wish I could make the flight over but never going to happen. A UK based gathering is definitely worth considering. Pity we don't have such a lovely colection of rockets to play with :-p

If you gather and then build them... You can have a MUCH lovelier collection!
