I made another design for a stove with a j -tube, a bit different than usual, is more compact . I also designed the rear of the feed tube a large bin of embers , this is because I consume a lot of problems getting the coals in the stove that I tried, I use the wood is very dense and the remaining embers end up clogging the combustion tunnel they turned back the flame . The goal of this system is to collect the hot coals in the box that can easily become a pizza oven. In this way also use the embers and the tunnel combustion always remains free . I have some doubts about this design though .. there is a risk that with the feed tube from overheating too much to turn back the flame ? to try to overcome this obstacle , the iron door and the cover to heat the air of the P -channel are welded together , so as to cool the most possible this part , it may be useful to build the part that encloses the feed tube with material insulation ? Unfortunately I was not able to enter a cooking plate, because I'm not sure that putting it on the side is quite efficient. linkSketchup file: linkSorry Robert for using your design of the j -tube

Your image shows a cooking stove with a door? Is that the design? Sorry, I can't open your skp file with my old version, if you can post an image I'd love to see it. I have a terrible time with sketchup, it frustrates me instantly. Sorry about that. Anyway, it sounds like my J in my home. I have an extension off the feed opposite the tunnel that I use for a small oven. It is a wonderful addition and I am constantly sweeping the coals back into there. I think it works very well for solving the problem you describe.

Thanks Robert and thanks Matt. The drawing I propose is an indoor kitchen. Matt the first link is an image, you can not see it? I also had problems with older versions of sketchup I have to update it constantly. your picture is exactly what I meant ... an oven behind the feed tube, about the small plate cooking work? J2.jpg

Thanks for posting the photos. Interesting build. Yes, my little hot plate works well for simmering something like rice, or heating a small pot. I use the barrel top for high heat duty, so this works well for me.
