I'm not sure if this area of the forum is most appropriate for this (ie. if the suggestions, requests, etc are specifically intended for this forum or if they can be more broad in scope). I'm happy to move it elsewhere if there is a better place for it.
I've had this idea for a rocket stove resource in my head for a long time and have been out of the loop here for a couple of years. A recent visit to a friends house where I had built a stove years ago rekindled my interest. I am just hoping to describe what I'm imagining and get some feedback as to whether it has been done at this point and/or whether there would be support for or interest in the idea.
I'd like to work on a collection of rocket stove 'case studies'. Kind of inspired by Lloyd Kahn's books on shelter - but with a mass heater theme and more emphasis on words than pictures. I don't have the latest edition of the rocket mass heaters book, but in the old red-cover copy I have there is a short section near the end with stories of people who have built and use rocket stoves. I always thought it would be great to expand that section into a companion guide for people interested in rocket mass heaters. I'm envisioning that people who have built and/or live with rocket stoves could submit stories, insights, experiences, or pictures related to their stoves. They could describe what they liked and disliked, wished they had done differently, unique things they had tried, how they use the stove, climate and house size, etc. At this point, there must be quite a large number of stoves in use and I personally think there is a lot to learn from each one (or at least I like to know about them). And this could be compiled into a reference -- I'm thinking possibly as a wiki or an open-source e-book. Something that could be freely contributed to, but also managed so that it would be cohesive and easy to navigate.
Of course, a lot of this type of information is already available within threads on this very forum. But I'm just wondering if anyone else would like to see it compiled in this specific way. It's something I would be interested in working on as a side project if there was enough interest from people with material to contribute. I'll just leave it at that and see if there are any comments.
