After reading and posting on this wonderful forum. I have started to build my rmh. I have just done the first (second if you count the mock up in the garden) test run and the small pile of wood burnt sideways up the heat riser. In a few days I will finish the flue.
My question is can I use aluminium sheet metal to rap around the heat riser to hold the insulation in? Or will it melt? I've got loads of if from a dismantled caravan.
Also the stone I've got next to the house can go pop if put in a fire. It would be great to use as I've got loads of it. I was thinking if it was buried in the thermal mass it might crack a bit to start with and then once all the water has gone it should be ok? Especially if it was heated slowly to start with?
Has anybody used chicken wire to shape the junction from the barrel to the flue? Pictures to follow.
Many thanks
Roy

AL melting point, around 660C°Could be ok, but i'm not that sure. About your stones buried in the mass, i think you'd be perfectly ok. Don't even know if they would crack.
