the bricks, flue and clay have been purchased and the construction of hte RMH starts soon. i stumbled across www.tecteg.com/does any have any experience with them and if they work. i was thinking for placing the unit on the top of the barrel? and plumbing in a water cooling loop to an external radiator (may use heat an outside bath?) we currently use an 8kw wood stove which just about heats our living space. i understand the 8" RMH is around 20kw output. so if we loose a bit to the TMG i figure we should be ok. we currently use a very small pelton turbine and a 220w solar panel to provide battery charging. my thinking is that the TMG could provide 100-200w at the time of day in winter when we start turning on lights computer etc. any ideas appreciated

Dit you have looked at the price list ?
Wood Stove TEG Generator System. LIQUID TO HOT FACE TEG POWER GENERATOR MAXIMUM OPERATING TEMPERATURE HOT SIDE OF 320°C
At a Temperature difference of 210°C TEG1-08-12611-6.0 ~ 114 WATTS OUTPUT TEG1-16-12610-5.1 ~ 82 WATTS OUTPUT
The weaker one is above $ 700.
You can buy: A 1200 WATT PORTABLE GASOLINE ELECTRIC POWER GENERATOR for around $ 130 and a huge lot of fuel for it for the remaining $ 600.

thanks Karl. about half the amount of fuel in the UK at over £1 a liter. anyway we have a noisy generator which is good at larger loads such as a washing machine. solar Pv looks good but not in the winter in cloudy wales UK.

The generator would have to run only short time and store in batteries. For 200 watts you would need two pices which doubles the price. I do not belive that you can use a temperature difference of 210°C. Likely you would need three or more. If you have on average 4-5m/s wind a wind turbine could be used too.

The peltor effect units the company you listed can be obtained relitively cheaply over the net from a few sorces (I can get them here in Aus over the counter for around $25 Aus for a 40 by 40 mm unit. If your chasing a sorce for experimentation look for scrapped cheap water chiller units. The type you see with a 4 gal water container on top, and no refrigeration unit. They use a peltor effect cell and an Aluminium heatsink with a pair of oil filled finned cylindrical fingers to disipate heat and a little fan.
