Thanks for posting the link! Keep in mind that welding on the flue exit to the side of the barrel might need a larger opening (see donkey's helpful hint thread). I was hoping to see something of the ash clean out area as that has been a topic of late but all I can figure from the pictures is that there was a tee angled down inline with a cap for cleanout but I can't see any evidence of it in later pictures. Instead there is some other clean out panel in the rear of the unit? Leaves me wondering...

Yeah most photos logs of the building process are missing photos of that chamber... And I agree that it should have a larger area there then just a welded connection... Jgreen posted some good pictures of his stove's barrel to pipe connection in that Helpful Hint thread... Im building mine and will be posting photos very soon... What's encouraging is I see a lot of "mistakes" in other peoples stoves and it seems like they still work pretty well...

Hi there my name is Jim and a new member. I want to build a RMH in my greenhouse. These pictures are very good and helpful. I noticed the brick burn tunnel is longer than other ones I have viewed. Does it make any difference? I purchased the book on Rocket Mass Heaters PDF version and it is worth the money. I just want to build it right the first time. I just wondered if the longer burn tunnel means a longer heat riser is required? This Forum is the best one I have ever joined. You can learn so much from other peoples success stories and mistakes.

The heat riser should be AT LEAST twice as high as the burn tunnel is long. It should ALSO be 3 times as tall as the wood feed is high.

Okay, thanks Donkey. That is exactly what I suspected but didn't know the formula.
