so i build some rockets fore small houses here in Denmark, thought i would share some idea.
since it very warm whit an open barrel in a small room i came up whit the idea to build a wall around the barrel whit space between the barrel and it so that air can circulate through a door in the bottom of the wall and out through a "oven" door or a big "lit" on top. so if you open both doors there will bee a nice flow of hot air coming out (maybe the cold air input door in the bottom could be fresh air from outside so the hot air could be coming in and the cold air out if you have an airtight house and can chose to make an air channel in floor level.. maybe )
this system do so you can not feel radiation from the barrel.. but if the wall i thick enough it can save heat fore some days and give the heat when doors opened and some over time through the wall..
if the wall are insulated on the outside it could saves/store heat even better and if the wall is made with large surface on the inside it will take and give heat faster.
since there is no radiation i thought to make a model like the new batch box whit two window, where fire is going up, so you could get some extra heat when the fire is lit. i'm a bit scared the second window will bee sooted in time though?.
so next project after this (Maybe) is to make a double rocket solutions for big house!
a fire box with two ports!
one part of the fire going up radiating direct heat trough second window an further up in barrel radiating direct heat to room and down to bench.
second part of fire going out the back and up in a barrel radiating to the wall and down in bench like the other or an other bench/chimney. or second one could be a water heater
maybe on of the rockets would need secondary air to equalize the oxygen in the two( the question)...
this system would be made so that you can open and close the two p-channel/ports, so ex. you could burn with the back port closet and the upper port partly open burning a big chunk of wood over long time sitting by the fire or having both ports open whit big fire making heat for later or hot water.
in spring or fall the direct heat part would be more used.
