So, I have been reading up on this idea of an all-in-one outdoor build and I must say it has intrigued me. www.motherearthnews.com/Do-It-Yourself/Build-An-All-In-One-Outdoor-Oven-Stove-Grill-And-Smoker.aspx#axzz2QctI8B2dI wondered if it could be spiced up by using a rocket stove under the front of the oven with the burn chamber coming through the floor of the firebrick - possibly with a heat diffuser plate in the oven area to diseminate the heat quicker. I suspect it could reach higher temperatures and get up to temperature quicker than if the fire was placed in the fire box as designed. Also, I would be interested in coming up with a better way to insulate the top of the stove if necessary. As I am clearly a newbie and not even met "novice" level yet, I was hoping for some input! Any thoughts?

Well.. Rocket stoves shouldn't smoke.. You may loose that function.

I use my outdoor system as all of those, plus a fire pit and heated seating. The key is to build a regular RMH and put a hole on top of the barrel with an adjustable baffle. Use that as your burner and set whatever cooking surface or vessel above it. That way you have clean, adjustable heat. You can smoke by adding wood chips there, on top of the baffle.

As for the Rocket stove not smoking, I figured I could close off the tube and just have a fire in the oven to allow for smoke. I was moreso wondering if the added work of putting in a rocket stove in the design would be worth the effort in this specific set-up. Or should I just go ahead and follow the instructions to just have a fire in the firebrick area and be done with it. Thoughts would be helpful!
