I am going to look at bottom air next. I have this idea about a removable tray that can be elevated, I had a quote to have one made from 3mm stainless. I had to pick myself up from the floor!

Bespoke metalwork is really expensive, stainless especially so. Could you take out the brick below the firebox and make an ash tray and bottom air control there? Wow! 100 pages!

Yes I noticed the 100 pages too. Unfortunately I have bloody Covid right now but I will come up with something next week, I might try to build a shaped tray with a perforated bottom. Two years ago I was really lucky to be offered 3x8x4’ sheets of high temp cement board for £300, they retail at £220 a sheet but I only have smallish bits left now. The board is rated at 1000 c and is really robust, I think I will use it to experiment before spending £400 on a custom built stainless one… Finding a high temp glue is the biggest issue, I have tried so many but none work very well, I just dont think there is anything available for the general public.
