Working with clay at around 35°C is challenging. Most of the work was done by family members and two paid helpers from the larger family of my wife. Work is cheap here, about 8$ a whole day for an experienced worker and the half for not experienced ones.

The dome form was build with 13mm 6 corner mesh attached to a base cut from hard paper. Then covered with stripes of tissue painted with clay. over painted whith clay again it became strong enough to support a first layer of clay.

After adding the first layer in Pinoy style. The boys know how to finish something with cement. The whole dome was build in this way, layer over layer.

The oven plate was cast in an end piece for a 550mm air chanel. The dome has an inner diameter of 650mm.

The local clay shrinks a huge lot. Adding a small amount of cement limits this. Paper fibers and straw nevertheless cannot prevent cracks in this climate One needs to keep surfaces whet over a longer time to avoid cracking.

You could add sand or grog to reduce cracking.. Nice looking piece.

Would raise heat transfer, but not realy help. During the hottest time temperatures can climb close to 40°C. Even concrete with lots of stones and low cement will crack here, if the surface is not keept whet.
Thank you.

In a first longer run, while the dome was still containing a lot of water, the temperature inside reached 230°C. My sister in law sells already pizza made with it. We will have a big fiesta. Lots of people will come to eat pizza and most of all to see the unbelievable smokeless fire. ;D

The oven now goes over 300°C. My sister in law underestimated the heat a bit.
