Hi gadget, yes that seems to be the way things are heading.
I’ve spent a bunch of evenings reading up on this and as far as I can tell even if I did all the training and got all the certificates to be allowed to install stoves in the UK and did it all myself it still wouldn’t meet building regulations.
I’m hoping I’m missing something.
The avenue I can see to get approval to use batch boxes or DSR2/3a is to do what eccosstove have done and build a complete freestanding prototype including a bell and pay to get it tested by and accredited test centre and then pay for the application process to get it approved. Eccostove seem to have their’s approved for EU, UK and parts of the US.
I feel a bit ridiculous even thinking about it because of the cost and effort involved…But I figure it’s worth at least considering it to see what our options are and whether going through a process might be worthwhile...
Here’s a link to the company mentioned above that have some something similar based on a finish masonry stove.

I have been working on this design for a completely stealth flue system that is hard to detect. No chimney sticking up. Cold air on the exit out a PVC pipe. Last steep is to get the huge vapor plum hidden. I use to live in an area in the USA that has burn bans. Now I live where there are zero restriction or permits for anything. I'm rural USA in one of the poorest counties in America. You're on your own where I live but it has its purks. It seems like the only stuff they want to ban is things that keep us from depending on them like wood heat, chickens, etc....
