so maybe if you put the wood through a gasifier first, and then fed it into the turbine? I feel like the raw wood heat would destroy the components rather quickly otherwise... Corrosion is definitely a factor that may come up. If I build it(which I likely will...lol) I would use a cheap T3/T4 turbo off ebay for MARK I. If the tail end gets super rusty, I will look into coating it in ceramic. Turbo's are crazy resilient. I've used many over the years, all custom builds on vehicles. The ones you are seeing being destroyed are being over driven. Its a plus to see since it shows there is lots of power available. Keeping it from "running away" is my biggest concern right now.

I looked into it for myself about 20 years ago and came to the same conclusion, ended up building a hydro-electric generator with some solar PV backup. I reviewed it all again a few years ago for a friend and he built something from these guys that gives him enough for lights and laptop: tecteg.com/Thanks for this link, Trev — I've been looking for something like these folks make. Good stuff!

I think this thing will need to be run off pellets or maybe sawdust to avoid run away and over fueling. I dug up a post from 2019 I started on a youtube video of someone trying to make some CO gas with carbon chunks in a tapered flask with a blower. The burn process is amazing. I think this is a great design start for a rotating pellet burn chamber. Just add the stack going out from the center with a wider chamber on the bottom. donkey32.proboards.com/thread/3511/coalnado

So would the turbo would be run off of the rocket exhaust or would it be run off of steam?

So would the turbo would be run off of the rocket exhaust or would it be run off of steam? Leaning towards flue gases directly though I would not rule out going the steam route if needed. Steam could run a secondary turbine from waste heat
