Update: We've just finished the build of this DSR3 with a 200mm system size, bypass and open bench. All pictures off the build can be found here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FqSqoeGr99Cv1M45tRamwELaXmbF2oJ0?usp=sharingIn the video we've just finished the build, the stove is still wett and you will see some condense on the looking glass. Dimensions: Total height 170 cm Width 110 cm on the front Bench 150 cm long by 60 deep We've used 90mm compressed earth blocks as the outer skin of the bell ( oskam-vf.com/en/clay-products/compressed-earth-blocks) and halfway we've switched to a double skin bell. 40 mm earthblocks on the outside, 40 mm chamotte stones on the inside. Leaving 1 cm gap for expanding. There's also a bypass just below the exit port of the dsr 3 heatriser. We had several online meetings with peterberg discussing this build for which we are truly grateful. Thanks a lot Peter, credits for this design go to him! The design is really simple and logical and buildingwise a great improvement. Please note that this build is still a test. We don't know yet how it's performing. The heater is now drying and we are planning to invite Peter to visit this stove together with his Testo equipment to run some tests and get more information on how it's performing. In this way we are hoping to contribute in a usefull way to this open source system and the further development. Hello skywalker and peterberg as far as I can see there are no plans of the DSR3 yet available on the website. Would it be possible to share the design of this DSR3 200mm build? That would make a great starting point for our own personal project.

Would you care to try again, Martyn?

Hey Sieger, I notice on both of the builds you documented here that the ceiling of the afterburner chamber is not cemented on but simply rests on a layer of Superwool. I am guessing you did that to allow for access from above, for maintenance or repair. Correct? And are you still building that way?

Not directly related to the main topic, but I am trying to open that .skp file with DSR3 design -- which version of SketchUp do you guys use and where can I download one?
Thanks!

Thanks Joseph! Any chance to get a license from somewhere as well?

We never needed a license for 2017, did something change?

I think it tries to get you upgrade to pro at the end of a trial period but you don't have to. And you may have to attest to using it non-commercially.

Today we've had a chance to fire it up a bit more heavy. The core of the stove is dry, but there were still some wet spots in the plaster on the outside top. This part was not yet heated sufficient because of the insulation. We filled up the firebox for 2/3 part with just some simple pinewood leftovers. The fire started easy, and slowly the double ram horn appaered in the top window. The top window was still black from all the litlle fires we made to help the stove dry faster but after a while the window became crystal clear. First things we noticed: -The stoves runs very easy -Opening the door during the burn doesnt seem to change the behaviour. While other rocketstoves we've build have a tendency to run harder when the door is slightly opened. -In the firebox the fire remains calm but in the topbox theres quite a turbulent fire with the tipical double ram horn. - the ram horns remain almost till the glowing phase. I will post videos of the burn asap. Hey skywalker, I have the DSR3 Sketchup file but I don't see the dimensions there and that's probably a question for Peter, or maybe there's a dipslay setting in Sketchup I don't know about, but was your firebox the same basic height and width of the DSR2?

So you're saying the design dimensions follow your spreadsheet? Not my spreadsheet, since I haven't any. The DSR3's dimensions don't follow the one on the batchrocket site, height and width of the firebox are more or less the same here. Hi Peter, first of all, thank you so much for sharing your work and skywalker and anyone else for sharing info. I've learned a ton! I'm planning to build your DSR3 design and I have your Sketchup file but I don't see dimensions there. Are those available?

I'm planning to build your DSR3 design and I have your Sketchup file but I don't see dimensions there. Are those available? The dimensions are saved in the file itself. You are using the online viewer probably, those doesn't sport a tape measure. You would need the full downloadable application, version 17 is the last freely available. Or register with Trimble and use the online version. Most of my published skp files are saved in version 8 format, the lowest common denominator.

I have the challenge of doing this in a manufactured home on block piers. The floor is roughly 4 feet above a concrete slab. So I have the idea of cutting holes in the floor and making piers and heavy duty beams to support it. Or I also have a large concrete porch at the front door under a well built gable built off the house. It could be closed in to increase the living room by about 11 square meters and the concrete is at floor level. It would be plenty big enough to add the masonry heater and its on the south so I'd make it with a lot of glass for solar heat. This is sounding like a better way to go now that I've type it out.
