That all looks OK, and there's room for adjustment in the top chamber. Think you meant the opposite. Thanks Dan, I missed that

Yes, the Cooktop is the roof of the top chamber.
What are you planning to use for your cookplate?

I have a few people looking for a couple of pieces of cast. If that doesnt pan out either ceramic glass or 1/2" plate I have to figure out a middle support yet as well

That 110 looks ready to drag hehe We had a blast with those then we started shortening vw frames they made great dune buggies on the farm. Is the mini ex for a specific job. I'm retired but work for a neighbour 3 half days aweek. We rebuilt a 1951 D9 dozer last winter...then we buried it putting in a road to the beach ...oh man it was bad I got pics somewhere. We had to get another neighbour to bring over some old ex it lifted that D9 out like nothin I was shocked. I was able to make the 3 and a half hour round trip into the city and back. I went to the PSH outlet and picked up 17 k23 firebrick and some 1.5" vermiculite bd and also some 1" I already broke one of the 1" bds Man are they fragile. I cut some of the firebrick I just soaked them and used my mitre saw worked great. I am going to get the back and two sides in place before I go any further

The mini-ex is just for myself. I have an old 16 acre farm in a remote area on the coast that I bought about 20 years ago, it had been disused for about 100 years, so I've been gradually reclaiming it in my spare time. Spent enough on self drive hires over the years to have bought one, so when I heard about this old digger I grabbed it. I love old solid, simple machinery like that.
All those insulating refractories are quite fragile. I just cut them with an old wood hand saw.

Looking good, well done. I've never used those diamond blades myself, but one job I worked on the owner was cutting some firebricks for me with his brand new 4" diamond blade and after 5 or 6 the blade wouldn't cut anymore.

Thanks. Yeah I am not holding out too much hope for them. I have a reciprocating wet saw lined up if this doesnt work.
